Meet Proshat Shahrestany

Studio City dentist Proshat Sharestany, DDS

Dr. Shahrestany built Studio City Dental Arts from scratch in 2012, making every effort to create an environment that prioritizes patient safety, care, and comfort while minimizing environmental impact. She is happy to help dental patients of all ages, from school age kids to the elderly, receive the dedicated dentistry treatments they need to enjoy lifelong dental health. To learn more about her, keep reading below:

Why Did You Become a Dentist?

You could say that healthcare is in Dr. Shahrestany’s blood. She is the daughter of a family physician and a midwife, and countless doctors, dentists, and pharmacists can be found among her beloved extended family as well. Some of her earliest memories are of family summer vacations, which involved trips to remote rural areas where her father would deliver desperately needed medicines and services to those in need. She saw the importance of these services from a very young age and how they could change lives for the better. Today, she still loves creating new smiles and meeting awesome people through her work!

Where Did You Study Dentistry?

Dr. Shahrestany’s early teen years involved a lot of studying and skiing every weekend. At the age of 15, her parents made the difficult decision to send her to the United States to continue her studies. While being away from her family was difficult, this hard work paid off when she was admitted to UC Irvine for her undergraduate studies, followed by the top-ranked UCLA School of Dentistry. She completed dental school in 1999 and spent a decade working with a number of well-known Southern California dental offices before founding her practice.

Additionally, Dr. Shahrestany constantly attends continuing education courses in order to elevate her skills and keep them as up-to-date as possible. She has studied a wide variety of specialty services, including Invisalign Clear Braces, Six Month Smiles, extractions, cosmetic dentistry (particularly veneers), and endodontics. Today, she has nearly two decades of experience in the field overall. She is currently a member of the following organizations:

  • California Dental Association
  • American Dental Association
  • San Fernando Valley Dental Society

What is Your Life Like Outside of the Dental Office?

Dr. Shahrestany and her husband have a daughter named Mila and a son named Cameron. She has several hobbies outside of work, including going to concerts, seeing plays, hiking, enjoying nature, and spending quality time with her loved ones. Skiing is still one of her favorite sports, and she’s also passionate about beautiful design and architecture – if she wasn’t a dentist, she’d be an interior designer! Recently, she also decided to continue the family vacation tradition from her childhood by participating in a dental mission trip to Guatemala.
