How often should I go to the dentist?
Dr. Shahrestany and the American Dental Association agree on this one: the average healthy person should visit their dentist at least twice a year for a routine checkup and cleaning. In addition to brushing and flossing at home, this is the most conservative and effective way to prevent tooth decay, cavities, and gum disease year after year.
Do I really need a dental cleaning if I brush and floss every day?
This is a very common question, and the answer is YES, you definitely need professional cleanings even if you take great care of your teeth at home. The reason is that your brush and floss aren’t able to clean absolutely every surface of your teeth, leaving very small areas vulnerable to plaque and cavities. A professional cleaning uses sophisticated tools that can effectively target these trouble spots and remove plaque to keep your smile protected all year.
Do you accept dental emergencies?
Yes! If you or a loved one are experiencing a lot of dental pain due to an accident or severe toothache, just give our office a call, and we’ll work to see you right away. We’ll do whatever we can to fix your problem and get you out of pain as quickly as possible.
I might have a cavity. What should I do?
If you’re experiencing a minor toothache or can see a darkly discolored spot on one of your teeth, the best thing to do is call Studio City Dental Arts right away. Treating a suspected cavity early is the best way to stop a small problem from becoming a bigger one later. In most cases, we’ll be able to fix your tooth in just one visit using a tooth-colored filling. If the damage is a little more extensive, we’ll provide you with a custom-made crown.
How can I get rid of stains/chips/cracks/gaps?
We have an entire selection of cosmetic treatments that are specifically designed to eliminate dental flaws and help patients achieve their dream smiles. If you’re looking to get rid of multiple imperfections, then porcelain veneers are one of the most effective ways to do it. They can fix/mask any aesthetic problem you can imagine, leaving behind a flawlessly white set of teeth. Even better, you can get a completely custom-made set in just two appointments!
Do I have to get metal braces to straighten my teeth?
Not anymore! Dr. Shahrestany is able to offer a number of aesthetically-friendly orthodontic treatments that can help patients get the straighter smiles they want without compromising their daily appearance during the process. With Invisalign, Six Month Smiles, Fastbraces, or Powerprox braces, we can align crooked, crowded, and gapped teeth in the most effective and discreet way possible. Read our orthodontics page to learn more about them.
Will you take my dental insurance?
We are in-network providers for several popular PPO plans, so in all likelihood, yes! To learn how we can use your particular plan to help you save at your next appointment, give us a call today, and we’ll gladly go over your coverage with you.
